Job Centre Funding
Fund your e-scooter
through the Jobcenter
The placement budget according to § 44 SGB III can cover the costs for a vehicle for your commute – up to €3,000. We will provide you with all the official documents you need.
How Jobcenter funding works
If you are looking for a job and need a vehicle for your new commute, the Jobcenter or the Federal Employment Agency can cover the costs through the placement budget. The decision rests with the responsible case worker – we will provide you with all the documents you need for this.
Am I eligible for funding?
These three conditions must generally be met for the Jobcenter to process your application.
Employment contract available
You have a signed employment contract or a binding job offer.
Commute not feasible otherwise
The workplace is not or only very difficult to reach by public transport (shift work, rural location, transfers).
Application before purchase
The application must be submitted and approved before purchase. If you buy beforehand, the claim is forfeited.
Your e-scooter in 4 steps
We accompany you from the first click to delivery – step by step.
Select model
Choose your desired vehicle from our range – whether 25, 45, or 125 km/h. Particularly popular with the Jobcenter: the Chopper M1P (45 km/h) and the Chopper 6.0s (45 km/h) – both can be ridden with a Class B driver's license.
Request an offer
Contact us – we will create a professional PDF offer for you that meets all the Jobcenter's requirements: vehicle data, technical specifications, COC document, road approval, and price. Case workers will immediately recognize that it is a serious offer.
Submit application to the Jobcenter
Submit the offer along with your employment contract to your case worker. Explain why you need the vehicle for your commute (no public transport, shift times, distance). Processing time is usually 1–3 weeks.
Receive approval and start riding
After approval, you complete the purchase. We deliver your vehicle ready to ride directly to your home via freight forwarder – including COC document, tools, and instructions. Optionally, you can book our assembly service.
What does mobility really cost?
An e-scooter is cheaper in the long run than any alternative. This is the argument that convinces case workers.
- Electricity: approx. €2–3/month
- Insurance: approx. €4–5/month
- No TÜV, no vehicle tax
- No parking space needed
- One-time purchase from approx. €2,700
- Deutschlandticket: €58/month
- Often not to the workplace
- Shift times not covered
- Weather-dependent at stops
- No advantage in rural areas
- Fuel: approx. €100–150/month
- Insurance: approx. €50–80/month
- TÜV, tax, maintenance, tires
- Repair risk for used vehicles
- Purchase: €2,000–5,000
What can be funded?
The placement budget not only covers the vehicle – accessories and running costs can also be applied for.
The vehicle itself
E-scooter or e-chopper – typically 45 km/h, can be driven with a car driver's license. Models from approx. €2,700 to €3,600.
Helmet
A tested helmet is legally required and recognized as a necessary accessory.
Lock
The funding body has an interest in theft protection – the vehicle must be protected.
Insurance plate
The first year's insurance (approx. €30–50) can be applied for as a start-up cost.
No legal entitlement – but good chances
Funding through the placement budget is a case-by-case decision. There is no automatic legal entitlement. Experience shows that the chances increase significantly if the employment contract is available, public transport is not a real alternative, and the offer is submitted professionally and completely. We help you with exactly that.
Frequently asked questions about Jobcenter funding
No – funding via the placement budget (§ 44 SGB III / § 16 SGB II) is always a case-by-case decision by the responsible case worker. There is no automatic right. However, a complete, professional offer significantly increases the chances of approval.
Amounts of up to €3,000 are often approved. In individual cases, even more, if the justification is strong. In addition to the vehicle, a helmet, lock, and the first insurance plate can also be covered.
You can appeal – that's your right. Common reasons for rejection: missing documents, insufficient justification, or existing public transport connections. Contact us – we will help you adapt the offer and strengthen the appeal.
45 km/h models have the highest approval rate because they are considered economical and suitable for everyday use. Particularly popular: the Chopper M1P Custom (from approx. €2,700) and the Chopper 6.0s Premium (from approx. €3,100). Both can be driven with a Class B car driver's license.
Basically yes – if the justification is valid (e.g., a long commute that is not practical with 45 km/h). However, you would then need an A1 driver's license or the B196 extension. The higher costs must be well-justified in the application.
Processing time for most Jobcenters is between 1 and 3 weeks. In urgent cases (start of work imminent), it can be faster. Our offer is ready for dispatch immediately – you won't lose any time on our end.
Yes – for models requiring registration (from 85 km/h, Class L3e), you can apply for the GHG quota (greenhouse gas reduction quota). This brings an annual premium of approx. €310–450, which often completely covers your running costs. For 25 km/h and 45 km/h models with an insurance plate, the GHG quota does not apply.
Yes – we will create a professional, official PDF offer with all the technical details that case workers need. If the case worker has any questions or requires adjustments, we will support you with additional deliveries or modifications. Free of charge and without obligation.
Finance an e-scooter through the Jobcenter – all the details
If you are looking for work and need a vehicle for your commute, you can apply for a subsidy through the placement budget according to § 44 SGB III (or § 16 SGB II). The funding is approved by the responsible Jobcenter or employment agency as a case-by-case decision.
Requirements
A signed employment contract or a binding job offer. A commute that is difficult or impossible to manage with public transport (shift work, rural location, long transfer times). The application must be submitted before the purchase – a retrospective application is not possible.
Subsidy amount
Amounts of up to €3,000 are often approved. In addition to the vehicle, a helmet, lock, and the first year's insurance can also be applied for. The exact amount is at the discretion of the case worker.
Why an e-scooter instead of a car?
A 45 km/h e-scooter incurs monthly operating costs of only approx. €8 (electricity + insurance). No TÜV, no vehicle tax, no parking space. A used car, in comparison, costs around €250 per month (fuel, insurance, maintenance, TÜV). For case workers, this is a strong economic argument.
Popular models at the Jobcenter
The most frequently approved are 45 km/h models: The Star-Biker Chopper M1P Custom (from approx. €2,700) and the Star-Biker Chopper 6.0s Premium (from approx. €3,100). Both can be driven with a Class B car driver's license, have EU road approval (COC document included) and are considered economical and suitable for everyday use.
Star-Biker as a partner
