The Star-Biker Balcony Power Plant Onyx Black 800W is a ready-to-plug mini photovoltaic system for balconies, terraces, or gardens. The complete set contains everything you need: two 440W all-black solar panels, an 800W micro-inverter, an Energy Communication Unit (ECU) for app monitoring, and all cables — including a 7m AC cable with a Schuko plug.
The principle is simple: The solar panels generate direct current, which the inverter converts into 230V household electricity. Via the Schuko plug, the electricity flows directly into your home grid — your meter runs slower, and you consume your own solar power first. No electrician, no complicated installation — mount the panels, plug them in, and you're done.
Technology & Equipment
N-Type All-Black Panels, ECU App, 7m Cable
Solar panels: 2× 440 Wp, frameless, all-black design (Onyx Black). N-type solar cells — highly efficient, particularly powerful even in low light and high temperatures. Dimensions 1766 × 1132 × 32 mm. Weatherproof and durable for continuous outdoor use.
Inverter: 800W micro-inverter, VDE-compliant, with automatic grid disconnection (safety standard). Pre-installed on one panel — no further effort. Factory-throttled to 800W for standard-compliant operation in Germany according to Solarpaket I.
ECU App: The Energy Communication Unit monitors the system in real time and shows current performance, daily yields, and total yield via a smartphone app. This way, you always have an overview of your solar production.
Scope of delivery: 2× solar panels, micro-inverter, ECU module, 7m AC cable with Schuko plug, MC4 connection cable. Optional mounting brackets for balcony railings or walls available separately.
Legal & Registration
No Approval — only MaStR Registration (free)
Since the Solarpaket I (May 2024), simplified rules apply: balcony power plants up to 800W do not require a building permit or approval from the grid operator in Germany anymore. You only need to register the system free of charge in the Market Master Data Register (MaStR) — this can be done online in a few minutes.
Since 2023, 0% VAT also applies to balcony power plants up to 600W inverter capacity. Many cities and municipalities also pay subsidies of €50–200 — inquire with your municipality. The Star-Biker model is eligible for subsidies.
In rented apartments: Installation is generally possible. Since July 2025, apartment owners face fewer hurdles — tenants should obtain the landlord's consent, which cannot be unreasonably withheld.

Charge E-Choppers with Solar Power — the Perfect Combination
The balcony power plant is the natural complement to any Star-Biker vehicle. Your e-chopper or e-scooter charges its removable battery at a normal 230V socket — the same socket into which your balcony power plant feeds. Indirectly, you are charging with free solar power.
With a daily production of 2–3 kWh on a sunny day and a battery consumption of 3 kWh for 100–130 km range: The balcony power plant covers the entire charging energy requirement of your e-chopper on good days. At the same time, it supplies the refrigerator, lighting, and other household appliances.
Savings & Amortization
Up to €400 Savings per Year — Amortization in 1–2 Years
With good alignment (south, ±45°) and 1,000 sun hours, the 800W set generates up to 1,000 kWh per year. At the German average electricity price of approx. 41 cents/kWh, this corresponds to an annual saving of €260–420. The investment is fully amortized after just 1–2 years.
The system is mobile and permanent — when moving, simply dismantle and reconnect at the new location. Lifespan of the solar panels: 25–30 years. The real return begins in year 2 — everything after that is pure profit.

No — since the Solar Package I (2024), you do not need a building permit or grid operator approval in Germany. The only requirement: free registration in the market master data register (MaStR) — done online in a few minutes.
Yes — the balcony power plant feeds electricity into the house grid, which can be used by any device. Since Star-Biker e-choppers and e-scooters charge their batteries from normal 230V sockets, you use your solar power directly for charging — especially efficient during the day when the system is producing and the battery is being charged.
With good alignment (south or southwest, 30–45° tilt), the 800W set generates up to 1,000 kWh per year. Realistic values for typical balconies are 650–800 kWh/year. The ECU app shows daily production values. Even with cloud cover and in winter, the system produces electricity — the yields are lower but present.
Yes — the frameless panels are light enough for a single person. Dimensions: 1766 × 1132 × 32 mm per panel. For mounting on a balcony railing or wall, we recommend suitable mounting material (sold separately). Basic assembly is completed in approx. 30–60 minutes.
