Rayvolt Vintage E-Bikes — Retro Design Meets Electric Drive
Rayvolt E-Bikes are the only vehicle category in the Star-Biker range classified as pedelecs — meaning they are legally treated like normal bicycles. No driving license, no license plate, no registration, no TÜV inspection, no vehicle tax. Can be used from any age without restrictions.
As a pedelec, the electric motor only provides assistance when pedaling — up to 25 km/h. Beyond that, the assistance switches off. Rayvolt E-Bikes combine this technical principle with a vintage design from Barcelona — inspired by 1960s café racers, manufactured with modern lithium batteries and brushless motors.
Models in the range
CRUZER, Torino, Beachin, Clubman & Ringo
Rayvolt CRUZER — the original model. Inspired by the first motorcycles of the 1900s and the café racers of the 1960s. Powerful brushless rear-hub motor, lithium battery, for city rides and longer distances. The classic in the Rayvolt family since 2017.
Rayvolt Torino — classic look with modern technology for style-conscious urban riders. Elegant retro design, high-quality craftsmanship, ideal for daily commutes.
Rayvolt Beachin — relaxed cruising in a vintage look. Wide tires, comfortable seating position, perfect for city and coast. The lifestyle model of the Rayvolt family.
Rayvolt Clubman — 400-watt motor, Shimano gears, up to 60 km range. As a pedelec up to 25 km/h — no driving license, ideal for everyday use. Classic café racer aesthetic.
Rayvolt Ringo — two-seater for adventurers. Wide tires, robust construction, for city and off-road. The only Rayvolt model with a seat for two people.
Legal & Approval
No driving license, no license plate, no TÜV
Rayvolt E-Bikes are approved in Germany as pedelecs (bicycles with pedal assistance) — this is the simplest approval class available. Like a normal bicycle: no driving license, no license plate, no TÜV inspection, no vehicle tax, no registration.
The only requirement: The rider must be at least 14 years old. Liability insurance is not legally required but recommended. Bicycle paths and bike lanes can be used — and the road if necessary.
Important: A pedelec is not an e-scooter and not a moped. The motor assistance switches off automatically at 25 km/h — it always remains a bicycle that encourages pedaling.
Technology & Features
Brushless Motor, Lithium Battery, Shimano Gear Shifting
All Rayvolt E-Bikes are equipped with a brushless electric motor — quiet, low-maintenance, and durable. The motor assists when pedaling and switches off at 25 km/h. Lithium-ion batteries allow for a range of 60 to 100 km per charge depending on the model — subject to riding style, terrain, and load.
High-quality craftsmanship with retro elements: rubberized grips, leather saddle, chrome-plated details. The Shimano gears (Clubman) ensure precise shifting even at higher speeds. Charging from any 230V household socket - charging time approx. 4–5 hours.

Questions about Rayvolt Vintage E-Bikes
No - Rayvolt E-Bikes are pedelecs and are treated like normal bicycles. No driver's license, no license plate, no registration, no MOT. Minimum age 14 years. You can use the bike on cycle paths, cycle lanes and the road.
A pedelec only assists when pedaling - the motor only runs when you pedal and switches off at 25 km/h. An e-scooter runs without pedaling, has road approval and requires an insurance license plate. Pedelecs are legally bicycles, e-scooters are motor vehicles.
Depending on the model and assistance level, between 40 and 100 km. The Clubman reaches up to 60 km. The range strongly depends on the riding style, route profile and the set assistance level. Charging from any 230V household socket in approx. 4–5 hours.
Yes - pedelecs may use all paths that are approved for bicycles: cycle paths, cycle lanes, road. On designated cycle paths, cycle path use is mandatory. Riding on sidewalks is not permitted.
For pedelecs, there is no legal helmet requirement in Germany - as with normal cycling. However, we strongly recommend wearing a helmet, especially at higher speeds and in urban traffic.
